During the 2020 pandemic in April, our team had several meetings over zoom. We started with brainstorming ideas until we came up with a plan to promote diversity and inclusion in our Chicago market. We realized that the commercial real estate industry lacked a panel platform for women, people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. We wanted our first panel to create a dialogue between people of color and highlight the industry's role models and their stories. In 2020 we connected with over 20 people in our industry that helped us promote a voice within our community by sharing complex stories that raised awareness for Women, People of Color, and the LGBTQIA+ Community. We faced topics that challenged our audience by opening their minds on race, sexuality, gender, the work environment, and an overarching message of equality for all. Companies like CBRE, Sterling Bay, Perkins + Will, Interior Architects, Daimler Chrysler, and Gensler helped us voice these discussions in coordination with organizations like AIA and IIDA which gave us a larger platform allowing even more to hear our message. In 2022, our adventure begins with a bigger outreach to the US. We will create a new platform Insightful Collaborative with virtual panels across the US and with Insightful Chicago focusing on our great city Chicago.
